Ukrainian drone developer Ukrspecsystems has publicly presented the RAM-2X strike unmanned aerial vehicle, an X-wing-configured loitering munition designed to engage high-value targets at ranges of up to 180 km. The system was displayed at the MSPO defence exhibition in Poland.
According to the company, the RAM-2X can remain airborne for more than two hours and can carry either a 2.7 kg or 3.5 kg warhead. Ukrspecsystems described the aircraft as highly automated and said it is intended to form part of a wider family of strike systems using common components, a shared ground-control station and common software.
Communications and reconnaissance teaming
Ukrspecsystems said the RAM-2X can operate across multiple radio bands or through Starlink communications. It can also use different AI assistant models, which the manufacturer said are intended to improve operational efficiency.
The strike UAV can operate with the company’s SHARK-M reconnaissance UAV, which can serve as a repeater in the configuration. Ukrspecsystems said the SHARK-M can provide target designation for the RAM-2X and help the system operate against electronic-warfare measures.
Company releases combat-use footage
Ukrspecsystems said RAM loitering munitions have struck more than 450 targets. The claim has not been independently verified. The company said it had previously been unable to publicly confirm its association with the RAM systems because of security restrictions, despite footage of the drones appearing publicly.
The manufacturer has now opened an “X-archive,” a publication series containing videos of combat use. Its first release focused on claimed attacks against Russian air-defence systems; Ukrspecsystems said publication of the material had been agreed with the military.
