Moldovan police and specialist services have recovered debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle with a turbojet powerplant after an explosion in the village of Kolonitsa, less than 2 km from Chisinau, according to the Moldovan Police as cited by Militarnyi.
Residents reported hearing a powerful explosion at about 4:20 a.m. Police bomb-squad experts and other specialized services examined the site and determined that the recovered components belonged to a jet-powered UAV.
Debris spread across 100 metres
Additional parts, including the aircraft’s engine, were found within an area extending about 100 metres from the explosion’s epicentre. Images and reporting referenced by Militarnyi indicated that at least one recovered component carried Russian-language markings, including an instruction reading “do not touch.”
The authorities have not publicly identified the UAV model. Militarnyi reported that the aircraft could have been a turbojet-powered version of Russia’s Geran attack-UAV series, but described that identification as an assessment rather than an official determination.
Type remains unconfirmed
The available official findings establish that debris from a turbojet-powered unmanned aircraft was recovered near Chisinau. Russian-language inscriptions were present on some parts, but neither Moldovan authorities nor the report cited by Militarnyi disclosed a confirmed manufacturer, launch point, flight route or intended target.
The incident places the remains of a jet-powered unmanned system close to Moldova’s capital, while the platform’s identity and circumstances of the explosion remain unresolved in the information released so far.
