DroneShield has integrated its DroneSentry-X Mk2 counter-drone systems onto U.S. Army Infantry Squad Vehicles (ISVs), providing the light off-road platforms with drone-detection and electronic-countermeasure capabilities.
The work was conducted under a contract with Joint Task Force 401 (JIATF-401), according to the company. DroneShield said delivery, installation on the vehicles, acceptance testing and operator training were completed about 80 days after the contract was signed.
Mobile and fixed-position employment
The installed systems have reached initial operational capability. DroneSentry-X Mk2 combines detection functions with electronic countermeasures, enabling ISV-equipped units to employ electronic-warfare capabilities while moving or from fixed positions.
DroneShield also trained personnel to use the equipment in combat conditions. The project is intended to support units conducting missions, particularly in the U.S. Northern Command area of responsibility and along the United States’ southern border, the company said.
Further vehicle integrations planned
The program calls for continued supplies of detection equipment, artificial-intelligence algorithms and electronic-warfare systems. Under an updated contract, the parties plan to equip three additional Infantry Squad Vehicles with DroneSentry-X Mk2 systems.
