An unnamed Ukrainian manufacturer is producing more than 2,000 Bars jet drones each month for special operations, according to a company representative cited by NV and reported by Militarnyi. The production figure, along with the drone’s stated performance and operational use, has not been independently corroborated in the supplied reporting.
The representative said Bars aircraft are used daily in combat and are manufactured in several modifications and configurations. The company further said the drones are deployed as they are produced rather than retained in reserve stocks.
Reported performance and configurations
According to the manufacturer, the jet-powered drone carries a 60-kilogram payload, has an operational range exceeding 1,000 kilometres and can reach speeds of up to 700 km/h. Bars was announced in 2024, although its first photographs appeared only recently, Militarnyi reported.
The company described a “middle strike” Bars variant fitted with a camera and controlled by an operator. It said this version is actively used in operations involving the Black Sea and Azov Sea, Crimea and other territories described in the report as temporarily occupied.
A separate “deep strike” version is programmed to fly to specified coordinates at distances of about 1,000 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, the representative said. About six months before the comments, the company had mapped more than 200 missions involving that category; the representative said the total had increased substantially since then. The report did not provide dates, locations or independent confirmation of those missions.
Manufacturer cites strike and special-mission use
The manufacturer said Bars drones have been used against oil refineries, power plants and substations. It also said the aircraft conduct certain unreported or minimally reported special missions, arguing that their jet propulsion provides capabilities not available to conventional non-jet drones. The company did not disclose further details of those missions.
In September, a newly developed Ukrainian turbojet engine intended for the Bars drone reportedly completed final testing. The supplied report did not provide specifications for the engine, identify its developer or state whether it had entered series production.
If confirmed, production at the level claimed by the manufacturer would indicate large-scale output of a Ukrainian jet-powered strike drone across both operator-controlled and coordinate-guided configurations.
